We ran in Tychy for Świetlikowo Hospice

Taking part in running events is always on our agenda of group participations within the action called ”Let’s run and support”. Just like in previous years, on 3 September our employees took part in two running competitions organised by the Local Sports and Leisure Centre in Tychy: The 22nd International Street Run in Tychy and The 6th Half-Marathon in Tychy.

Running events in Tychy attract a growing number of participants year after year. Unfavourable weather conditions did not discourage any potential participants – a total of 1000 contestants decided to run in two competitions. Our brave 14 employees wearing white t-shirts with the ”Let’s run and support” slogan were among them.

Five PRESS GLASS employees took part in the shorter run (10 km street run), while the other 9 people decided to take a greater challenge (half-marathon – 21 km). The following PRESS GLASS representatives were ranked the highest: Tomasz Myślikowski was ranked as 68th in the street run and Jacek Piętak was the 57th person to cross the finish line in the half-marathon.

”Temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius at the beginning of September are not common but against all expectations the conditions for running were favourable. I am happy to see new people joining our team.”, says Justyna Barczyk-Strama, an active participant of the action.

We donated a specific amount for charity for each competitor representing our company, according to the rules of the ”Let’s run and support” initiative. The amount grew owing to the fees paid for taking part in the runs. PRESS GLASS representatives decided to donate the total amount of PLN 1706 they ”ran” to support building of the Świetlikowo Children’s Day Care Centre and Hospice in Tychy. The Hospice is built upon an initiative of the Silesian Children’s Hospice Foundation in Tychy.

Thanks to all participants of the competition!
