New, more effective acoustic double-glazed units

For silence.

Among the tasks that modern glass industry faces, the construction of acoustic double-glazed units is one of the most important – and yet the hardest to accomplish. Good sound insulating properties are crucial if glass is to be successfully used in windows, facades or partition walls, especially in highly urbanized or densely populated areas. This is precisely why Press-Glas is continually extending its range of acoustic double-glazed units. We now offer three new units with excellent sound insulating properties: 42, 44 and 45 dB.

Willing to assure its clients of the highest parameters of the new products, Press-Glas once again charged the IFT Institute Rosenheim with carrying out detailed tests of the new acoustic double-glazed units.

When choosing the types of double-glazed units for testing, we aimed to meet all of our customers’ demands. To that end, we provided our customers with the opportunity of expressing their expectations through specially designed and distributed questionnaires. Among the most often expressed demands were: higher thermal insulation, reduction of the unit’s width and environmental neutrality attained through disposing with environmentally unfriendly gasses such as SF6.

The new units are highly attractive to the customer for a number of reasons:

  • they have excellent thermal insulating properties – the heat transfer coefficient U equals 1,0 W/m2K (EN 674), guaranteeing:
    • heat energy saving,
    • lower heating costs,
    • optimal temperatures;
  • they can provide temporary protection against burglary, qualifying into the P2A safety category
  • the use of laminated glass guarantees that if the pane is shattered, it will remain in the frame, ensuring safety of persons in the vicinity.
  • the new units are environmentally friendly – they do not contain the SF6 gas,
  • thanks to the use of laminated glass, they give good protection against UV rays, protecting walls and furniture from fading. At the same time, they do not block this part of the spectrum that is indispensable for plants, thus not causing them to wither.

For the environment.

Press-Glas is particularly concerned with environmental issues. This is why, disregarding all advantages of this solution, we completely eliminated heavy gasses such as SP6 from the production process of our double-glazed units.
Our new range of acoustic double-glazed units consists solely of new solutions, fully replacing older, SP6-rich constructions still produced by some companies.
This decision is a part of a wider series of changes connected with the introduction of the environmental friendliness norm ISO 14001 in all of Press-Glas plants.
