Sport and Support: Summary of the Campaign for 2019

We have another annual record for the campaign – nearly PLN 72 thousand – that much money has been raised for charity throughout 2019. Behind this amount there is a huge commitment to helping the needy, but also the individual sports successes of our employees. What did the last year’s calendar of group and individual runs look like? What new happened as a part of the campaign? It’s time to summarise all sporting events of the past year.

GROUP RUNS – MARATHON IN SPAIN

In April 2019 during the 11th Częstochowa Race (Poland) we celebrated the 5th anniversary of the inauguration of the “Sport and Support” campaign. A record number of PRESS GLASS employees (110 people) stood on the starting line, and in addition we organised a special FAN ZONE with a POWER GATE, where our employees and company supporters cheered all participants of the race.

In addition to races in Częstochowa, Radomsko, Tczew, Nowogard and Croatian Varaždin, PRESS GLASS employees participated for the first time in the marathon in Valencia, Spain. 16 employees who in the last year (preceding the marathon date) participated in individual long-distance runs over a minimum distance of 42.2 km took part in the marathon.

Participation in the 39th Marathon in Valencia is the culmination of the 5-year duration of the “Sport and Support” campaign in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe – the city of runners. It was therefore the first marathon as a part of group runs.

The participation of PRESS GLASS employees in all group runs resulted in the amount of over PLN 29,000, which went to the charges of local organisations and facilities.

INDIVIDUAL RUNS – WE RUN IN A LARGER TEAM!

In 2019, we had another record in terms of the number of participants of the campaign and the amount of money raised for charity. 95 employees raised in total nearly PLN 39 thousand. The company’s employees took part in over 340 sporting events in 108 cities in Poland. We also recorded one start abroad – a 10 km run in Frankfurt by Ewa Rudzińska.

Grzegorz Kruk – one of the most active participants of the campaign – covered the longest distance in one run, the above-mentioned 150 km.

Statistics from individual runs show a significant increase in popularity of the campaign – it attracted many new faces – compared to the annual statistics from 2018 (55 people), in 2019, 40 more employees started individually as a part of the campaign!

Money “from individual runs” was donated to the charges of associations and foundations and other institutions selected by employees, as well as to charges of foundations located in the vicinity of PRESS GLASS plants: Special Facilities Complex in Tczew, “Dar Serca” Hospice in Częstochowa, “Przyjazna Planeta” Foundation in Radomsko, “Świetlikowo” in Tychy, “Serduszko” Association in Nowogard.

“BIKE TO WORK” STRAIGHT TO THE PODIUM

In 2019, once again the employees of PRESS GLASS from the plant in Tczew, Poland, took part in the company’s cycling struggle as part of the “Bike to Work” competition. Ultimately, our employees, covering a total of 22,974 km, came first in the team ranking in the “Big Company” category.

The employees took part in double struggle – the organiser of the “Sport and Support” campaign allowed the possibility to include the kilometres covered in the overall company statistics for the “Sport and Support” campaign for all employees who represented the “Sport and Support” campaign in the competition. Thus, the collected amount of over PLN 8,000 was, in accordance with the employees’ wishes, divided and transferred to the beneficiaries of their choice.

3rd LEŚNA DOBA ULTRAMARATHON FOR THE CHARGES OF THE SPECIAL FACILITIES COMPLEX IN TCZEW (POLAND)

On October 12-13, 2019, three employees of our friendly Special Facilities Complex in Tczew, representing the “Sport and Support” campaign, took part in the 3rd edition of the 24-hour Leśna Doba Ultramarathon in Las Karolewski, Poland. They ran together 233 km and raised nearly PLN 1,200 for the charges of the Special Facilities Complex in Tczew.

WE CONNECT GENERATIONS – A JOINT BICYCLE RIDE IN TCZEW (POLAND)

On September 21, 2019, a group of 80 employees of Press Glass and their families representing together the “Sport and Support” campaign took part in the Bike Ride in Tczew for the third time as a part of the “Active Mobility Week”. A large turnout at the start has brought the amount of PLN 2,000, which was donated to the treatment of two children. The campaign in this event was represented by people from a wide age range from 3 to 60 years. Our “Sport and Support” campaign brings generations together around sports and charity.
